Sanders claims first victory in Innsbruck-Tyrol

Annie Sanders (USA) lived up to her status as the favourite in the Boulder competition at the World Climbing Series Innsbruck 2026. The 18-year-old American won Thursday evening’s final to secure her third consecutive World Cup victory.

Arriving in Innsbruck full of confidence after completing a Boulder and Lead double in Prague, Sanders continued her impressive run of form. She was the only one of the eight finalists to score on all four boulders and the only athlete to top two problems. With 68.9 points, she cruised to a commanding victory.

It marks Sanders’ fourth Boulder World Cup win and her first triumph in Innsbruck. “It’s an incredible feeling to win here. Innsbruck is one of those places where you really want to stand on top of the podium at least once,” said the young American. “The final boulders were extremely hard, but that’s exactly the kind of style that suits me.”

Second place went to Erin McNeice (GBR/34.8 points). After failing to score on the first two final boulders, she secured her podium finish with a top on the last problem. Oceania Mackenzie (AUS/30.0) finished third.

The men’s Boulder competition continues on Friday with the semifinal at 13:00 Uhr and the final at 19:30 Uhr.
